Should “Secret Courts” exist within the Clark County Family Court System?
An EXPLOSIVE day Tuesday May 23rd, 2017 at the Clark County Family Court with the Veterans In Politics Court Observers Tiffany Wagner, Welthy Silva, Steven Sonnenburg and Steve Sanson.
We first went to Family Court Judge Cheryl Moss courtroom. We were immediately ushered out of the courtroom into the hallway.
Martin Urriola the Marshal for Judge Moss told us the hearing was closed. Sanson asked him if the case is sealed or a closed hearing on the record, but he failed to acknowledge. Forty five minutes later we once again entered Judge Moss courtroom we first made sure that the litigants were not the same, after that we took a seat to begin observation.
Urriola immediately came over to us to flaunt his authority and said for us not to enter his courtroom without his authorization. We reminded him that the courtrooms are open to the public, the current case is not sealed nor was it a closed hearing on the record. In addition he was not paying attention to the door.
Urriola again reiterated that we are not to enter his courtroom without his approval. Sanson said next time he will walk over to him to get his approval. Urriola said then you will be arrested.
Urriola was doing his ideal best to intimidate our observation group, he was very abrasive and condescending. Our tax dollars at work. He also indicated that if we gave him reason he would kick us out.
It sounds to us that this Marshal is starving for power, but he must realize he is a public servant being paid with tax dollars in a public courtroom. He must be new!
In addition we have provided all the court case for today’s hearings to verify Urriola comment about a closed hearing and Sanson filed an official complaint against Urriola’s unprofessional behavior.
A report was filed that day.

We then entered Clark County Family Court Judge Bob Teuton courtroom and we were immediately approached by Judge Teuton’s Marshal, who indicated that the proceedings were closed to the public. Sanson asked if it’s on the record and only the Judge can order a closed hearing.
The Marshal immediately approached Judge Teuton and the District Attorney’s office started to look for the rule on their cell phone whom was also present in the courtroom.
Judge Teuton also was looking up the rule for a closed hearing and then signaled Sanson to be recognized by the court. Judge Teuton asked Sanson to identify himself and then asked the defense if they objected to a closed hearing.
Judge Teuton stated that he fought against courts denying access to the public and asked Sanson if his presents along with the other Court Observers is the best interest of the children and then requested Sanson and the other Court Observers to leave the courtroom with the exception of social workers and attorneys.
It’s funny, everyone in that courtroom was drawing a pay check from Clark County taxpayers with the exception of the Court Observers.
The Veterans In Politics will file a Federal lawsuit to challenge the rule that permits closed hearings in Clark County Family Court. Because we deemed this rule to be “UNCONSTITUTIONAL”.
Meanwhile we entered Clark County Family Court Judge Sandra Pomrenze court room without incident. But what was interesting is the fact she threaten Nevada Family Court Attorney Robert Kurth with contempt.
