County Commissioner Tom Collins breaks his silence about voting to abolish the Las Vegas Township Constable’s Office in 2015
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (May 20, 2014) — There may be some truth to previous claims made by Las Vegas Constable John Bonaventura. For quite some time Bonaventura has accused the Clark County Commissioners of voting to abolish the office of the Las Vegas Constable based solely on reasons of serving a personal vendetta. Whether or not there is any merit about the motivation behind a vote being a personal axe to grind or an office not being in the best interest of voters or business as usual, has yet to be proven.
However, according to a one-page affidavit that is alleged to be authored by Commissioner Tom Collins, dated on April 18, 2014 and received by Attorney Robert Pool, states that the Las Vegas Constable’s office aka Bonaventura’s job was abolished for reasons other than what was stated to the public and in sworn in legal pleadings under the penalty of perjury. Item number five of the affidavit states, “The agenda item was never based on any objective “finding” other than the predetermined effort by the Board to keep John Bonaventura off the ballot and from running for re-election.”Item number six of the affidavit states, “There was never any true factual finding as required by the statute that the Office of the Las Vegas Township Constable was unnecessary. In fact, the office is very necessary and serves a vital role in Las Vegas Township and Clark County.”
The decision of the Commission has been challenged by Bonaventura all the way up to the NV Supreme Court.
Recently Commission Tom Collins was publicly scolded by his peers for the following remarks, “People from Utah are “inbred bastards” and if they come to Clark County to support Bundy they “better have funeral plans.” It may be possible that Collins is firing back at his peers for the treatment that he received after making remarks that offended Las Vegans and Mormons.
Bonaventura was criticized by the Commissioners for countless reasons, one being shooting a pilot for a reality TV show that never saw the light of day.
If the affidavit is from Collins and if Collins is befriending the enemy of possibly his enemy, then Las Vegas and the Commission just may have the makings of a great story that can attract reality television producers after all.
The affidavit that is alleged to be from Collins is attached to this email. I encourage you to read the document and decide whether or not it is authentic and if it is, then what is the fate of the Commissioners and of the Las Vegas Township Constable’s Office in 2015.
