NYPD POLICE OFFICERS PLACE BALME ON NEW YORK CITY MAYOR FOR THE SENLESS KILLINGS OF THEIR OWN!
This is the very reason politicians do not publicly address controversial police shootings, because of backlash… New York City Mayor has absolutely nothing to do with the tragedy of these two police officers. Neither are the senseless killings of two unarmed men by the hands of police officers in resent news.
This starts with the mindset of police officers who believe that they are above the law, they know that they will be protected by their police unions and most officers back each other; good, bad, or indifferent. Until the mindset is changed by Commissioners, Chiefs, Sheriffs and Union President. Officers are going to keep feeling the sense of entitlement.
Secondly, the District Attorney’s need to start taking a proactive position and make sure bad cops and unjust killings amongst our civilian population by the hands of our police is best represented in a court of law, this also includes Grad Jury Indictments. Most District Attorneys are in fear of backlash from police officers and union presidents. They are in fear of their own safety and their next election.
In conclusion, mental illness is another factor; we need to train our public, especially our law enforcement to recognize mental illness and find solutions such as de-escalation. We also need to straighten our laws on this huge epidemic.
To blame anybody for these senseless killings is ludicrous and a tremendous failure amongst leaders to weed out the real problems that face our society.
