Political Candidates Compete for the Most Valuable Veteran Endorsement in Clark County, NV
Las Vegas, Nevada (March 6, 2013) – – – Veterans In Politics International, Inc. (VIPI), a —, today announced that it has endorsed six political candidates whom are running for North Las Vegas Mayor, North Las Vegas City Council – Ward 3, Henderson Municipal Court Judge – Department 1 and Las Vegas City Council – Wards 2, 4 and 6. Endorsees include former Nevada Senator John Lee, Janice Ridondo, Judge Mark Stevens, Councilman Bob Beers, Councilman Stavros Anthony and Councilman Steve Ross. No endorsements were made for Henderson Mayor, Henderson City Council – Ward 3 and North Las Vegas City Council – Ward 1.
Former reporter for 8 News Now, Chris Saldana and Nevada Attorney, Stephen Stubbs alternately moderated the endorsement interviews. Interview panel members included Robert Lauer – US Army, Karen Steelmon – VIPI Auxiliary Director, Melody Howard – US Army, Travis Barrick – Nevada attorney, George Assad – former Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge George Assad, Byron Brooks – US Army, Jason Brooks – US Marines, Forrest Darby – US Army, Kenneth Wegner – US Army, Andre’ Haynes – VIPI Publicist and Richard Cherchio – former North Las Vegas City Councilman. Rondha Gibson, widow of Army Gulf War Veteran Stanley Gibson was the door host.
During a voter education event, Steve Sanson – President of VIPI addressed the crowd and said, “I encourage all residents to visit the polls and vote intelligently for the Municipal candidate(s) whom best support your platform(s). Statistics indicate that most voters do not participate in Municipal elections due to not living in a specific jurisdiction and are unaware that elected officials do impact their lives, even if the jurisdiction is not located in your district. Consider that elected officials sit on boards, committees and vote for policy changes. Your way of life will be affected by boards and committees such as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Fiscal Affairs Committee, the Clark County Regional Transportation Board and the Las Vegas Valley Water Committee. An elected Municipal candidate, whom you did not vote for or against today, can end up being your Governor or Mayor tomorrow. On behalf of every Clark County resident and VIPI, I implore you to vote.
