Victoria Seaman’s bid for mayor of Las Vegas raises serious questions about her fitness for office, given her troubling history of physical altercations, dubious lawsuits, and conduct unbecoming of a public servant.
The contentious 2021 incident with fellow City Councilwoman Michele Fiore at City Hall is a glaring example of Seaman’s lack of professionalism and respect for her office.
In January 2021, Seaman and Fiore were involved in a physical altercation following a committee meeting. According to a 61-page investigative report by an outside law firm commissioned by the city, Seaman violated the code of conduct.
The report detailed how staff viewed and eventually overwrote key surveillance footage of the incident, posing a “substantial risk of damage to the political images and reputations” of the councilwomen.
Despite repeated requests from Review-Journal reporters for the video, the city stalled and provided vague replies, ultimately claiming the footage was deleted after 60 days. According to the investigative report, this deletion was due to automatic system settings. Still, the lack of transparency and the city attorney’s handling of the matter only fueled suspicions of a cover-up.
Las Vegas City Attorney Bryan Scott informed Seaman that the video was about to be overwritten, yet Seaman never sought to preserve a copy.
What was Victoria Seaman trying to hide by not asking for accountability on the video? This is a blatant disregard for public accountability.
This cynical manipulation of public records underscores a deliberate effort to obscure the truth from voters.
The confidential report, released to the full council and obtained by the Review-Journal, attributed blame to Seaman, contradicting Seaman’s claim that her council colleague attacked her unprovoked.
Investigator Deverie Christensen from Jackson Lewis P.C. substantiated that Seaman engaged in abusive and wholly inappropriate conduct.
Despite Seaman’s attempts to portray herself as the victim, the report reveals a more complex and shared guilt.
Following the altercation, Seaman sued her colleague and the city, alleging a conspiracy against her. She claimed the city failed to protect her and covered up the incident.
However, the investigative report found no evidence supporting Seaman’s claims. Instead, it portrayed her actions as aggressive, including kicking her fellow councilwoman in the shin before being pushed to the ground.
Seaman’s reaction to the report was dismissive, labeling it “100 percent garbage” and insisting that the truth would emerge in court.
However, her behavior post-altercation, including failing to report the incident accurately to medical staff and not pressing charges or filing a police report, raises doubts about her credibility and commitment to transparency.
Furthermore, Seaman’s attempt to manipulate the political landscape following the altercation is deeply concerning.
Seaman’s involvement in these controversies and subsequent lawsuits against the city suggest she is no stranger to exploiting public office for personal gain.
In light of these revelations, Victoria Seaman’s bid for mayor appears inappropriate and dangerous for the integrity of Las Vegas’s leadership. Her history of physical altercations, misuse of public resources, and attempts to manipulate political outcomes demonstrate a profound lack of judgment and ethical standards.
Las Vegas deserves a mayor who embodies professionalism, transparency, and a commitment to public service.
Victoria Seaman has repeatedly shown she lacks these qualities, making her unfit to lead the city. Voters should consider the implications of electing someone with such a controversial and troubling record.
Everything Seaman touches turns into crap in the Las City Council election 2022. Seaman supported Ray Spencer over Nancy Brune and Bob Beers over Frances Allen-Palenske. Las Vegas voters went in the opposite direction because they know Seaman is toxic!
