Las Vegas, Nevada

Victoria Seaman, a current Las Vegas City Councilwoman, has built a career on contradictions, half-truths, and political maneuvering. One of the most glaring examples of this is her handling of the 2015 car accident she claimed nearly killed her. While Seaman insists that this accident left her bedridden for weeks, her actions in the days and months following the incident tell a completely different story.
Seaman’s political timeline casts doubt on her claims of severe injury. Just 20 days after the crash, she announced her candidacy for the Nevada State Senate, which puzzled those aware of her supposed condition. If she was genuinely incapacitated, how could she swiftly pivot to a Senate run? This is the first of many contradictions that seriously doubt Seaman’s truthfulness.
Fast forward to December 2015, six months after the accident. Governor Sandoval called a Special Session in Reno, which Seaman attended. Despite her earlier claims of severe injury, she showed up in good health and without assistance. It seems the debilitating effects of the accident had mysteriously disappeared when it was time for her to engage in high-profile political activities.
In 2017, Seaman’s pattern of opportunistic behavior continued. Just a few months after filing a lawsuit against the City of Las Vegas for her accident, she launched a campaign for U.S. Congress. But this campaign fizzled out like others before it when unfavorable polling against Danny Tarkanian prompted her to drop out. By this point, it was clear that Seaman’s ambitions were driving her more than any sense of duty or integrity.
Her political failures didn’t stop there. After losing the Nevada State Senate race and the congressional campaign, Seaman turned her sights toward the Las Vegas City Council. Yet, throughout all these campaigns, she continued to fight a legal battle with the city stemming from her 2015 accident. Seaman’s lawsuit was conveniently settled for $100,000 just weeks after she won her council seat, raising serious ethical concerns.
Unsurprisingly, Seaman sought to shield the details of her settlement from public view. She filed multiple motions for protective orders, effectively keeping voters in the dark about her dealings with the city she now represents. One can only wonder why she was so desperate to hide the facts of her settlement, especially after her repeated claims that she was fighting for justice.
Despite her legal and personal controversies, Seaman has continued to run for higher offices, exploiting every opportunity to further her political career. Her actions raise an essential question for voters: Can someone with a questionable track record be trusted to lead Las Vegas as mayor?
Victoria Seaman’s political career is marked by deception, manipulation, and a startling disregard for transparency. As voters, it’s time to demand better from our elected officials—starting by holding Seaman accountable for her long history of self-serving behavior.
