It is incredible to watch Victoria Seaman’s campaign collapse. When talking to visitors at the Chamber of Commerce debate, I noticed that the common thread is that Victoria Seaman needs to be more varied and mayoral.
So, why has Seaman unraveled so quickly?
Well, here are a few facts.
First, she thought she could become the top vote-getter in the primary; instead, she finished a distant second. That’s when she became distraught, and things started falling apart.
Then, news surfaced about her frivolous lawsuit against the City of Las Vegas and how she made several legal maneuvers to reduce her exposure as the one suing the city. She is not only suing the city but asking for punitive damages. This means she wants to punish our city. Yes, all this while asking the voters to elect her for mayor of Las Vegas. But there is more.
Then came a counterclaim by her former friend and city council colleague, in which Victoria Seaman was accused of misusing the judicial system for her political gain. Seaman’s allegations against Fiore and the City of Las Vegas, including conspiracy to destroy surveillance footage, are baseless and indicative of a calculated attempt to manipulate the narrative for media attention. Her complaint, filed suspiciously close to Nevada’s mid-term elections, reeks of opportunism and desperation.
Then, to top it off, the city was hit with another liability in the Badlands case, bringing the total owed by the city to $78 million. All this happened in Victoria Seaman’s ward, all under her watch. Remember, Seaman ran on the premise that she would fix Badlands. Not only did she fail in her first term, but in her second term, the city is now on the hook for more money, with more coming.
Insiders in city hall say she is distracted by all these lawsuits and has been yelling and screaming at staff and her campaign team, blaming them for her rapid fall. Some say staffers can no longer tolerate the failing councilwoman’s outbursts and mood swings.
To top all this off, her donors are now moving money to Seaman’s opponent, seeing the handwriting on the wall and realizing that Seaman is a lousy investment.
It’s the perfect storm, and Victoria Seaman’s demise is before our eyes.
