Victoria Seaman: A Legacy of Broken Promises!
By Steve Sanson
Victoria Seaman’s political career has been tumultuous, marred by failed promises and unfulfilled commitments. She first sought to become a Las Vegas city councilwoman through a controversial race, aiming to unseat a sitting council member via the recall process.
Seaman claimed the then-current councilman was leading the city down a dangerous path concerning the Badlands dispute and assured voters she would resolve the issue. Fast forward two years, and not only had Seaman failed to settle the Badlands dispute, but she also asked voters for another two-year term, once again promising to fix the mess she had inherited.
The opportunity to cement her legacy and achieve success was within her grasp. A settlement offer was on the table—a $49 million deal that could have ended the ongoing debacle.
Seaman had the ball at the one-yard line, ready to score a victory for the city. However, she fumbled spectacularly. In a statement to KLAS TV, she said, “Unfortunately, I must report that negotiations on this settlement broke down today, just a day before agenda item 28 was to be heard. I have done everything I could to bring both sides together. However, I regrettably must report that negotiations between both sides’ attorneys have reached an impasse.”
An impasse? Victoria, that’s not what you call an impasse; that’s what you call a fumble in football. In baseball, it’s called a strikeout.
Victoria Seaman fell flat on her face and couldn’t close the deal. Since then, judgments have continued to mount, and the city of Las Vegas is on the hook for more money every day. Interest alone is close to $40,000 daily.
Now, city services are being cut. Hiring freezes are in place, and essential services are being reduced—all because of Victoria Seaman’s fumble at the one-yard line.
Seaman had a chance to settle the Badlands debacle and failed miserably. But now, incredibly, she wants us to reward her again, this time with the mayoral seat. What a joke! She now aspires to a bigger job after failing whenever she has the ball.
Seaman has already botched Ward 2. The Queensridge owners witness a dead golf course daily as their property values decline. Victoria Seaman’s only job was fixing Badlands, which she failed spectacularly. Her inability to close the $49 million settlement has led to severe financial repercussions for the city, impacting services and taxpayers alike.
Seaman’s track record is clear. She promised to resolve the Badlands issue twice and failed both times. The residents of Ward 2 are left to deal with the fallout of her incompetence, and now she wants to expand her influence to the city as mayor. The mere thought is ludicrous. Her failures in Ward 2 should disqualify her from seeking any higher office, let alone the mayoralty.
Perhaps Victoria Seaman should consider a different line of work where her decisions won’t have such dire consequences for the community. Maybe she could find a role at the Animal Foundation, where she might do a better job caring for our dogs and cats than she has for Ward 2.
The city of Las Vegas deserves better. We need leaders who can deliver on their promises, not those who repeatedly fail and seek greater power.
Victoria Seaman’s political career should be a cautionary tale of what happens when ambition outstrips competence. Her inability to resolve the Badlands dispute has cost the city dearly, and now she wants a promotion.
The voters of Las Vegas must see through this charade and demand accountability. Seaman’s time in office has been marked by failure, and she should not be given another chance to let us down. The stakes are too high, and the city cannot afford another fumble at the one-yard line.
If Seaman worked for you, would you give her a pay raise, let alone a promotion?
If you care about this city as I do and put away your personal bias, you would not vote for Seaman!
