Dan Lier running for Assembly is a work in progress!

Las Vegas, Nevada

March 11, 2022

Veterans In Politics video internet talk show interviewed Dan Lier candidate for Nevada State Assembly District 23.

Lier stands 6’8” a former basketball player born in Minnesota and grew up in Michigan.

Lier a professional speaker works for a Speakers Bureau. No, he didn’t go to Toastmasters!

Lier said that he is an incredible communicator and he has a knack for working with people that don’t necessarily agree with him.

The host asked Lier how many BDRs does he have. Lier wasn’t familiar with the term and the host told him it’s a Bill Draft Request the first step in getting laws amended and introduced.

Lier said he is a big believer in psychology.

Lier would like to amend SB420, which is a Senate Bill.

Summary:

AN ACT relating to insurance; providing for the establishment of a public health benefit plan; prescribing certain goals and requirements relating to the plan; requiring certain health carriers to participate in a competitive bidding process to administer the plan; requiring certain providers of health care to participate in the plan; exempting rules and policies governing the plan from certain requirements; requiring the Executive Director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange to apply for a federal waiver to allow certain policies to be offered on the Exchange; requiring certain persons to report the abuse and neglect of older persons, vulnerable persons and children; requiring the State Plan for Medicaid to include coverage for the services of a community health worker and doula services; revising provisions relating to coverage of services for pregnant women under Medicaid; requiring the establishment of a statewide Medicaid managed care program if money is available; revising requirements relating to health insurance coverage of enteral formulas; making appropriations; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

Lier has a teaching degree and he would like to see school choice return in this legislative session the same standards as Educational Saving Account (ESA) back into play.

Education savings accounts (ESAs) allow parents to withdraw their children from public district or charter schools and receive a deposit of public funds into government-authorized savings accounts with restricted, but multiple uses. Those funds—which families generally access via an online platform—can cover private school tuition and fees, online learning programs, private tutoring, community college costs, higher education expenses, and other approved customized learning services and materials. Some ESAs, but not all, even allow students to use their funds to pay for a combination of public school courses and private services.

Lier seems to be an upfront type of guy, if he doesn’t know something he admits to it.

Where are the marijuana tax dollars that were slated for education?

The host asked Lier about Campus Carry that Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit cannot carry their weapons on a college campus. Lier would study that issue.

State law allows for the presidents of Nevada’s public colleges and universities, known as the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), to grant written permission to carry firearms on campus. Unfortunately, most of the time permission to carry for self-defense is denied.

Lier said he doesn’t know what it is to be an Assemblyman, but he will know by June.
