We recently met with the Clark County District Attorney, Steve Wolfson, regarding his office’s recent actions and Supreme Court brief (click for copy of the brief) that we felt negatively affected Veteran’s Treatment Court.  D.A. Wolfson explained his office’s position, which is outlined in his attached letter
(click onto the words attached letter).

We of course explained our displeasure with the way his office had handled what he said was simply an effort to clarify the law regarding Veterans Treatment Court.   0621162217b-1
The good news is that the D.A.’s office appears to be taking positive steps to get the Veterans Treatment Courts back on track.  D.A. Wolfson indicated that his office will be meeting with the Veterans Court judges and lawmakers to discuss the legislation issues.

D.A. Wolfson has also agreed to include VIPI in future discussions and consultations regarding proposals that may affect Veterans Treatment Court.

We will of course hold him to that, and look forward to continuing our discussions with the D.A.’s office until this important work is done.

VIPI has worked very hard over the years to get this veterans specialty court established, and we will continue our work to safeguard and champion this invaluable program for our veteran community.
